Hi Everyone. I'm currently in the process of selling my current cars, and looking for a i30CW diesel manual! Dont have a huge amount to spend (under 15k) but looks like its an achievable goal! Like all vehicles i've owned, being part of a forum is great for information about the car, and to see if models have any particular foibles to look for!

Anyway, fingers crossed all my vehiclular shennanigans go smoothly and I can report back with some pictures of a new car!

G'day mate,

Plenty of CWs out there. With them being popular with both Reps and Governments there is a good range of km and price points too....

Is there anywhere aside from carsales that is good for picking them up from? Seems to be a few dreamers on carsales (one person asking 19K for a 2011 model, the other 2011 model wants 14K which seems more reasonable).

I would like an SLX, but there just doesnt seem to be any manual crdi wagons that are slx with less than 100K on them around. Did no one order a slx wagon? I want it mainly for the better steering wheel/gearstick - the plastic one on the sl isnt the best.....

You're unlikely to find one as the SLX CW only came with auto....  :(

Damn, damn and blast! I wonder how much a SLX wheel is, and how hard it is to swap over......

Mags dont worry me, I will get those when it's due for new tires. The gear shifter I can replace easily and cheaply - would like cruise, but its not a deal breaker (and could fit aftermarket if it was) - but the wheel feels quite cheap and nasty in SL form.....

Why must the auto be a pov 4sp......(well that and no matter the # of speeds, I dont like auto)

My cadet squadron had its annual trophy parade last weekend - hence my largely unnoticed absence on the forum - and I spent most of it driving a Rosa 22-seater around base. It was a brand ne auto!

I swapped it with my XO for the older manual. :D

GTR  I bought a genuine leather steering wheel cover off eBay for my poverty pack Hybrid and stitched it on. Looks and feels the part! Or you could get an upholsterer to do it for maybe $150 to $200.

Well.....things may be slightly different.

Looking at a new i30 Tourer Active CRDi (manual). I really dont want an auto, but trying to figure out the best price. Have seen a 2014 Active crdi tourer auto for 24900, but cheapest manual is just a tick under 26k.......confusing as hyundai lists the auto as 2.2K more.......

What prices has anyone achieved recently (dont care if its qld, i'm willing to fly and drive back if its >$1k saving on qld dealer).

Pretty much just want stock, and most of the "style" options (~$500) and a towbar (rrp of $1.1k, have heard of people paying $750 for it though).

Do you reckon I should be able to get a 2014 build plate, manual active tourer (wagon) with the options above (plus mats/boot liner/full tank) for $26K? or is that wishful thinking?

If bloody skoda had any manual ambition plus octavia wagons in stock, i'd seriously go buy one of those (bigger car, better build quality, plenty of awesome kit) but I dont want to wait 5 months for a new car......WHY MUST EVERYONE BUY AUTO?!?!?

Hmmmmm.....went to a dealer today, and they reckon they searched stock australia wide, and there are no active crdi tourers in manual........and it's a 4 month wait to get one..... :(

Will contact other dealers next week (including the ones on carsales who show manual tourers with crdi in stock.....) to see if they're telling me porkies.

4 months, at least it would be MY 14. I'd wait actually, subject to getting a fixed price. :whistler:

The problem with waiting, is the Skoda Octavia is a similar price, is a larger car with a far larger boot, more kit much more premium feel and its only 2K more than the hyundai - and it has a similar wait time. The hyundai is a great car no doubt, but compared to the skoda (at a similar price) its just not as nice a place to be and having a family, the extra space is always welcome!

EDIT: I havent given up yet. Long term, this car will be our second car so ideally cheap running costs is one of my main priorities (and reliability). I have emailed a whole bunch of dealers interstate searching for a manual wagon. Ideally I would like to pick up something now so I dont spend ages mucking around with cars.....

Thought I would tell people, but I ended up ordering a Skoda Octavia Ambition+ wagon. Got it for 30.5K - spoke with a few hyundai dealers (and found one manual that wasnt sold in oz) but with the options I wanted, couldnt get it much below 27K driveaway after getting it to QLD. For just over 3K more I got a punchier engine with only slightly worse economy, similar service costs (skoda are fixed price now), much large boot (580L vs ~520), bigger inside (can fit 4 adults easily), much more premium interior (leather wheel/gearstick, touch screen stereo, 10 speaker with sub german sound system (that rocks!), bi-xenon lights, LED drl's, absolute swag of gadgets on the inside, soft touch plastics throughout, REAR AIR VENTS! (important for kids), adaptive cruise control, auto city brake, auto park, front and rear sensors (on screen display + audible), and a whole bunch of other neat stuff. For $3K it was a no brainer as the wait times quoted by hyundai were similar to the times quoted by skoda (3-4 months). The car looks the business too - like an audi A4 wagon.

The Hyundai is a great car, and really the only other option in the under 30K (admittedly I paid a smidge over, but it's optioned to the hilt). If you're happy to take an auto you could pick one up straight away, but I insisted on manual and sadly, they just dont keep them on hand. For me at least all the gadgets and the fact its a bigger car really swayed the decision for me (and the wife loves it). Even at the base of ~$28K for a ambition+ it still had lots more equipment than an active tourer.

Anyway, I may see you around on other forums (I know dazzler is on WP) but thought I would shar the experience with others.

Congrats on the new car!  :goodjob:

The Octavia is certainly value for money, I'm thinking Hyundai (and a few others) will have to pull their socks up....  :victory:

Thanks GTR ..You've done well by the sound of it! (I think I already mentioned I like Skodas)

Phil's suggestion is a good one.. We like to hear about other cars on here (we are only a little bit biased)  :winker:
