Hi guys, I am looking at installing the factory HID setup from a GD i30 Premium  into a GD i30 Active.

I am looking for a parts list including part numbers of all the parts required for the conversion.

Does the factory HID setup use the CAN bus at all and if so would it be as simple as swapping over the PCM/BCM or ECU and having it recoded by my local dealership?

I am not interested in an aftermarket/eBay kit.

I've done a bit of reading and can only really find people using aftermarket kits opposed to the factory setup in the high series but i'm not a fan.

Any input would be appreciated.

I don't see why it wouldn't be legal because it was available as standard on the same model (GD) car.  :undecided:
May stand corrected though.

As long as the light housing is a factory one designed for HID's ( not installing HID's into a standard housing ) and the factory wiring harness for a HID model is used it should be fine, fuses could possibly need upgrading as well.

I'd also like to know what parts are installed from factory, specifically the ones that HY uses to minimize FM radio interference and which fuses they replace with bigger rated ones

Something else that would be required is the beam levelling switch to be installed,  a lot of work for little gain if you ask me

A question to ask though is why does your GD active not have HID's anyway as they're installed on the 3dr actives

Your 3dr isn't an "Active", Craig....it's a "Special Edition"  :winker:
It comes with quite a few different "accessories" compared to the "Active", such as alloy wheels and daylight running lights, just to name 2...  :D

But, are you sure your 3dr has HID's? There's no mention of them in the specs...there's also no sign of the washers the i30 Premium come with...  :undecided:

Yes it's Special Edition but still the Active model which doesn't have the Climate Control, Leather interior and power folding mirrors which the Elite model has.

Hmmm! I thought I had HID's but after inspecting it appears I dont :( I was sure Hyundai told me it had them :undecided:
"edited for further information"
After just calling my sales manager to double check you are right rustynutz, when I purchased the car I was sure they referred to it as the active model  I'll just have to eat my words :)

From what i can tell so far is that as long as the setup is ADR compliant then there shouldn't be a problem.

Search for the ADR's at http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/motor/design/adr_online.aspx

Some codes to get you started:

Vehicle Standard (Australian Design Rule 13/00 - Installation of Lighting and Light Signalling Devices on other than L-Group Vehicles) 2005
Vehicle Standard (Australian Design Rule 45/01 - Lighting and Light Signalling Devices not Covered by ECE Regulations) 2006
Vehicle Standard (Australian Design Rule 75/00 - Headlamp Cleaners) 2006
Vehicle Standard (Australian Design Rule 77/00 - Gas Discharge Headlamps) 2006
Vehicle Standard (Australian Design Rule 78/00 - Gas Discharge Light Sources) 2006

Although it doesn't explicitly say that so long as you're fitting ADR compliant HID's then it's all sweet but i'd imagine it's like fitting a tow bar for example - the ADR code isn't on your compliance plate but it's legal so long as the unit is ADR compliant.
