Looks like we might have another issue like the DPF or no DPF... From a few posts on here it looks like several members have had their diesel filters changed at 20,000 miles or 30,000 km or 1 year...Maybe that is correct and I haven't read the service manual properly..(at around $130 a pop that could expensive for us higher mileage owners) Bob and others who have done well over 30,000km (or equivalent in miles) like to comment please..P.S. Forgot to mention that when I got my oil filter the other day they wanted to know my rego number because after a certain production date they take a different filter...
what oil do you use?i've always changed mine at 5,000k but do the 7,500k on this as lot of idleing in traffic. what if you take over a year to do 15,000k? would you use the time change or the k's traveled?cheers ps i know people send oil samples to have tested to see how well it's copeing to get an idea on how long before they need changing. but i've never done this personaly. i take all the oil i drain out to the recycler.

I booked in for my 30000 service today, and asked for a quote...$490 - ouch! They replace air & oil filters in this service apparently

So it's one year regardless of the kms with i30. Secondly, I've never been in a situation where I have to change the oils based on time. Otherwise I probably would change after one year with 10000-15000 kms because the oils become oxidized regardless of the kms. Some car manufacturers allow a change interval of two years though. If the kms would be less than 10000 a year I would probably use some cheaper, semi-synthetic oils and change them once a year.IMO idlying is not so bad for the oils, there is no high pressure or temperature wearing the oils then. Many of us have to idle the car a lot. I think that the cold-start cycles wear the oils the most as does continuous hard driving (near the limits of the engine). Still fully synthetic top oils can tolerate these conditions well.
