hopefully the thread title makes sense

i was looking through the i30 book and accessories list. i noticed with the CW models now in australia they have inclusions not available in the hatch. would it be safe to assume such 'extras' will flow down to the hatch, either as standard or options?

standard - folding side mirror
sportswagon standard - rain sensing wipers
SLX/SW standard - rear parking sensor

thers a couple cargo things as well

none of these are make or break items for me by any means but i'm curious if these might turn up on an update or in the MY10 model.

which also begs the question - when would the MY10 be due?

A good question snowcherry..

You forgot the indicators in the mirrors...

I would expect that to filter across in the next update... and probably the rain sensing wipers for the SR (who knows about the other stuff)

Last year the MY09 came out in about October so I'm guessing they will bring out MY10 around that time this year too...

Well I have some of these on my UK model, hopefully you'll get them offered soon down under. Here's my summary of their usefulness

standard - folding side mirror
Nice to have a button that swings them in; bit of a novelty for me. Don't use the feature

...rain sensing wipers
This is reasonably useful, providing you set the sensitivity correctly. In heavy rain while travelling at speed, they react very well swapping between standard wipe and "quick-flick", but in slow moving spray they need flicking manually from time to time.

SLX/SW standard - rear parking sensor
Never thought I'd say this, but my parking sensors saved me from quite a crunch recently, when I didn't see a fixed metallic bollard in my mirrors as it was out of sight, to all except the beepers :)

You forgot the indicators in the mirrors...
That would be cool - wish I had them fitted

Yup. It's the rotating dial on the right hand stalk.

Least sensitive

hehe i was curious about sensitivity settings myself so no worries

thanks for the replies - little extras coming down continue to make the i30 such a great value prospect. i doubt i would be waiting until october (though looks i may have to wait now til august to buy my car anyway) but its still quite exciting.

Hi Snowcherry, with all that help from the touch of a button you will also need to book into a Gym LOL.
with too many tricks you can trick yourself. i like things simple so less to go wrong.
i can fold my mirrors in if i wish. i can also see when its raining.
cheers

I have these features too, here is my take

Well I have some of these on my UK model, hopefully you'll get them offered soon down under. Here's my summary of their usefulness

standard - folding side mirror

Use it every single time I park, love it to bits just wish they were automatic with the ignition for sheer laziness

...rain sensing wipers
This is reasonably useful, providing you set the sensitivity correctly. In heavy rain while travelling at speed, they react very well swapping between standard wipe and "quick-flick", but in slow moving spray they need flicking manually from time to time.

Again wouldn't be without them and compared to some other manufacturers I have seen the Hyundai ones are excellent.  Renaults frequently forget to wipe in the wet and sweep a couple of times in the dry!

SLX/SW standard - rear parking sensor
Never thought I'd say this, but my parking sensors saved me from quite a crunch recently, when I didn't see a fixed metallic bollard in my mirrors as it was out of sight, to all except the beepers :)

Yep, i like the beepers too, just don't make the mistake of thinking that the first beep has ACTUALLY engaged reverse gear!

You forgot the indicators in the mirrors...

What Steve says

other bits that I have and their usefullness.
1.  Tyre pressure monitor system - once told me that I had a soft tyre but it was just so damned cold the monitor got confused!
2.  Photochromic rearview, I love it, Steve (Shambles) is not so keen.

 I assume this is the auto dipping rear view mirror? I hadn't heard it called that b4...

and errr i think that is it

and you know the single one thing i wish i did have?

a bloody decent cup holder!

p.s now auto-dipping rear view - now that i could use! i would also like the auto on lights cos sometimes i forget to put them on  :-[

Yeah forgot to speak about the auto lights, generally very good but you still have to override them particularly during fog in the daylight so you should remember that you have a switch :P

Well even the Poverty Pack SX has two very decent cup holders, one larger than the other, both have spring loaded self adjusting holders built in, seem good to me.
Auto lights on and self dipping has been around since the 50's, so nothing new.
cheers

i30 was helped along to the top of my short list partly due to the awesome storage and cup holders (a little sad but still)
i think only the SR has the auto lights on?
or i'm confusing something here

Lakes wasn't saying the SX had auto light .. he was just making an observation that it is nothing new ( but I can see why you got confused)
