Awesome  :D

Ours got a wash yesterday too. The husband gave it a wash for the first time (his, not the cars) while I lay in bed feeling sorry for myself (adult braces post adjustment day). Now the inside is waiting for me to get to it

First time? naughty!

I'm too anal to leave it too long to give them a wash. Don't tell the wife but I love her Dyson vacuum it really sucks the dirt from the carpet, and the kids leave a lot of dirt, sand, whatever art stuff they were working with at kindy/school.

No no, the car has been washed 4 times before. By me. This was the husbands first washing of the car ;)

I love the fact that my Dyson sucks up anything and everything and I love the fact that it's lasted me 10 years and is still going strong but damn that thing weighs a tonne and I hate the big bulbous end on it that doesn't go under anything :(

The good wife got some flexible brush attachment which is magic on the dash.

If I knew how much it cost, I probably wouldn't love it much.....

Clipsal was awesome and I do believe that this year we hit a new high with some great interaction in a spacious, relaxed marquis. The Air Commodore's direction to 'dress down' into what we wear daily was a stroke of genius, with this one detail making our presentation to the public that much more genuine.

I'll give the sheepskin option some serious thought, especially when I'm now officially what is affectionately termed 'king of stitchbitches' in the Life Support world and able to get some very good insight and advice. The simple design wouldn't interfere with the side airbag function, especially if I opt to have a layer sewn onto the existing compliant cover.

Do it, Panda, you know you want to - I'll throw in a jar of my award winning yoghurt on your next Adelaide visit.

I do want to, only problem is (other than the $300 odd price tag) is that they're only for the front.

I'm considering the tailor made's because the kids are always dragging their school bags and shoes across the back seat no matter how much I rouse on them and those are less and include a back seat cover.

And always up for yoghurt! I spend a small fortune on that stuff (turns out I'm not as much of a tight wad as I think I am when it comes to yoghurt  :whistler:)

Panda, sorry if this is late, i picked up sheepskin covers at a good price for my first i30, they went with it when sold it as never had side air bags. but the guy that sold them fitted them and was a perfect fit, ( front only ) i was thinking about the rear one's and he had some tough covers he would fit but for sheepkin on rear was a bit pricy as he would have to custom make. but this guy was on Canterbury Rd right near Canterbury station. i was going to get more made for the i30 i have now but never got around to it. but with kids you would need them.

I'm not either. I'm less of a fan of Kids, car seats and wives who can't work out that no eating in the car, actually means no eating in the car.....Now where is that off topic topic....

when the kids were younger we had rear seat covers in our cars for the obvious reason, but we also had a travel rug on the seat to catch the bits of anything a young en may drop.  :winker:  pull the travel rug out, and with a quick shake the mess is gone,it only takes seconds to re fit.   :winker:  from memory we also had one on the back floor.  :goodjob2: :goodjob:

I'm afraid I was a "No eating or drinking in the car" type of person.
I worked on the theory that cars are for driving in and dining rooms are for eating in.
It worked quite well, but both of my grown up kids now eat in their cars so they must have felt deprived or something.

I work on the theory, when you clean it, you can do what you want. I clean them so  :D

 Guessing I missed a comment that got deleted?

We looked at the covers you just throw over, however none of them were suitable for airbags at all so we decided against them.

Thanks for all the advice! I think we've decided on the custom mades off ebay......now give us another 6 months to actually purchase them

Bump.. I'm going to talk to Autobarn in Burnie (50 kms away) about Custom made rear covers for Trish's new Tourer (when we get it - hopefully Friday)

They said they need to see it and do a drawing with measurements to send away (we Trish will have a choice of fabrics)

Like Panda said Custom covers are scarce (especially for the rears) Not sure if the Rear GD hatch ones would fit the Tourer as well?

Anyone else had any luck with custom rear ones?

I used to have seat covers but found they collected a load of dirt underneath. Could of been the cheap seat covers that I could only afford at the time though.

Thanks John,

I'm hoping not to cover the leather in my new car but Trish likes the Lambswool seat covers she has on her front seats ( we haven't had the dirt issue and they have protected her seats from wear)

We have cheapie one piece covers on Trish's CW ( she carts 3 grandkids around who are 6,7 and 8 ) but would like proper ones for the new tourer that allow the seats to fold separately. Probably just nice material not lambswool..

Go to a camping store and treat the covers with water repellent, they'll stay clean longer.

Thanks Phil, not a bad idea but the kids aren't allowed to eat in the car, so they don't usually get too dirty..

Water repellent spray is a good idea, It'll stop leakage but I'd still be throwing the covers out and not even bother trying to clean in that case.

Brings back memories of when driving home after a trip to the beach with my old Malamute, he decided to gobble down a dead blowfish he found and the whole trip home was revolting stinky green vile everywhere all over the back seat " I wish those seat covers had of been water proofed " :sicky:
