A Lincolnshire man – surely Britain’s most brazen driver - has incurred what could be the biggest ever parking fine for ignoring over 140 tickets in a single year.

David Lee, 37, built up the whopping £14,000 fine by repeatedly parking his Ford Mondeo in disabled spaces in dozens of private car parks across Lincoln.

He has already been served with four county court judgements totalling more than £3,000 by Leeds-based firm UK Car Park Services (UKCPS).

And the firm intends to issue a further £10,000 worth of charges before the courts, as well as an estimated £1,000 in costs.

In the UK private parking enforcement is mainly in the hands of the ex-clampers who were forced to give up that practice.  A disabled parking bay has no legal meaning in a private car park and  any enforcement action for so called breaches of contract is a civil matter dealt with under the complicated laws involving contract.. There are few of these cases that actually reach court as most people pay up and those who fight the "penalty" notice usually win by default as enforcement companies are not willing to risk a  court judgement setting a precedent that may affect the business plan under which they operate.

The man in the article  couldn't realistically expect to have  continued enticing the parking company to ignore his actions and by not defending the cases he has lost by default.  Having done so bailiff action to recover the money will follow whereas a carefully conducted defence may well have achieved what he appears to be seeking.

This website makes interesting reading on the subject  :link: FightBack Forums -> Private Parking Tickets & Clamping

I got one of these PRIVATE parking tickets once.  The guy, whom was dressed up to look like a civil enforcement officer was still there, I said 'Meet you in court then' as I ripped up his little parking 'INVOICE' and placed it in an adjacent bin.

Never heard a word, and my defence was read had I done so.

Contract law requires that contracts be fair, so, even if I had entered into some contract with them (which I had not) £100 pounds for three minutes parking FAIR   HAhahahaaaa    YEAH right    :goodjob:
