Just wondering...

Could Russ via his contacts or one of our Korean members do some research please..

The i30 is now hovering around the top 5 best selling cars in Australia..

I thought it would be interesting to know where it sits in the Korean market compared with other model/brands..

Tried searching via Google but no luck..

Also, wondering if the Diesel is as highly considered over there as it is on this site?

Hi Dazz,

I'll have a Korean staying at my house for one week as of July 3.

I'll try and remember to get her to help me search the Korean websites
for any statistics and info re the popularity of the i30 in Korea (might be worth
asking me again around that time as my memory can't be relied upon).

my wife and i went to the dealer yesterday and asked about the 1.6 crdi. the salesman said, "koreans don't drive diesels." when pressed to look into his computer and find out how long it would take to get one, he said, " there are zero orders at the factory. maybe, 1 to 3 months. the last one was ordered a few months ago."
from what i see on the streets, there are a few i30s. the genesis and the sonata are much more popular.
as for colour, continental silver--hands down.

Well.. strike me down with a feather  They don't know what they are missing out on..

The Korean i30 club has over 50,000 members and gets heaps of cars to their club meets  :P

and most of the cars they have photos of on their club site are any colour but silver so that is

a big surprise. Thanks for the info...

Dazz i think, too many people look at what other countrys drive, and wonder why they drive what they do.
i have never been to Korea but would imagine it to be a small country and, would also imagine they would not drive long distances, correct me if i'm wrong.
here in Australia we have all types of motorists. and they all think everyone else is the same as they are and should drive the same type of cars as they do. but city dwellers and country dwellers have two very different needs. also state to state things are very different as you know.
after driving the diesel on trips i think its great, i try to keep rev's below 2,500 for long liverty.
