Hello all,

I love the rims that the i30 has come with, the chrome inserts really compliment the black paint, but I can't help but think the car could look a lot "sport-er" with some new shoes on. Funny enough the nicest rims I've found that suite my style and the car are Hyundai rims off other models.

I'm torn between the 17" premium Elantra,

and the 18" Veloster turbo rims...

Love the look and shape of the Elantras but it has no chrome... on the other hand the Velosters has chrome but the shape reminds me of a flower or something, also don't like how fat they look around the outside and because they're 18" would the car require modding to fit?

Suggestions?

I'm with you when it comes to rim styles. I recon factory rims have a bit more refinement about them.
Of the two you posted the Elantra ones are my choice, they look fast, and you might be able to remove the plastic sections and get them chromed.

Don't forget Kia stuff, they're making some nice rims these days.

Just make sure your wheel offset is right, you don't want those dramas.

Of the two posted I prefer the Elantra.

My old FD had plastic chromed inserts and they pitted like fury - looked awful.

I'm personally not a fan of the factory alloys, the silver coating they use on them marks/scratches to easily and the rims are very heavy compared to many of the popular aftermarket wheel producers.

There's plastic on these??

I'm also leaning towards the Elantra ones but I dunno...

They look very pretty on an angle and in pro shots:

but just plan on they looks kinda funny:

Walked pasted a black Veloster turbo with the 18's on and I think I'm sold! They look beautiful in person. Might go down to the dealership one weekend and check out the Elantra's one weekend and compare them.

I don't mean go down to the dealership to buy, I mean just to see what the elantra rims look like in person.

Just had a thought VaerO ... swapping wheels will be a very expensive exercise. Your Premium wheels are pretty nice already.. Why not just  get them sprayed a different colour?

You may also want to consider the deterioration in ride quality with larger rims (lower profile tyres). The GD i30 (with torsion beam) doesn't exactly soak up poor road quality.

I don't really like the i30 Premium alloy wheels as well. It's ok, I mean, but prefer the other ones like the i30 SR or Elantra or Veloster

Can't be bothered spending hundreds of dollars to replace though. Not sure if I want to spray as well, might end up getting them to be uglier  :sweating:
