Just bought a 2013 (63) I30 Tourer 1.6 CRDI Active on Friday :D Enjoying it a lot so far! It is so fast compared to my old Corsa 1.0 lol and the storage space rocks (the weans buggy doesn't take up the whole boot!).

I'm sure I'll have plenty more questions in the future ... like why the parking sensor beep constant when I start reversing (in the manual it says a constant beep is when I'm really close to something. And also I noticed that there was a weird bump in both the roof rails about level with the front doors, is this normal ?  :whistler:

:welcum: and Congrats. My wife has the 1.6 petrol version of the same car.

Do you have front sensors too? In my car these go off in my garage before I reverse out as I am close to the back wall...

The weird bump means the roof bars are warped (a quite common warranty fix)

I don't know if i have front sensors to be honest, when would they go off when I drive into the driveway close to the house it will warn me before i bump into it ? lol

Cool good to know they will fix the roof bars, I assume you can use some kind of roof rack system ? there are plenty wee doors on the rail but they seem quite solid (only tried with my nails though, bit nervous about anything harder!) :)

You should be able to see them on the front bumper if you have them. They are round and about 2 centimetres in diameter (there would either be 2 or 4)

Yes you can definitely use roof rack systems (there are discussions on here about various brands and types)

Just checked my wife's Tourer and there is a slight lift in the drivers side roof bar, but only visible from the other side of the car and only about a mm gap so far... :undecided:

Yeah sounds about right, on mine it actually comes up enough for the rubber seal underneath to come free of the car (the image isn't the best but gives you an idea).

It is in the Arnold Clark we bought it from today (a Nissan one) for a free service and they said they will fix it. I have also asked them by phone to have a look at the parking sensor and tell me if they feel it is operating correctly.

Can anyone tell me if i am sitting in the middle of the road and select reverse (with nothing around me but road) should there be a solid tone from the sensors? As I get closer it does start to beep but I guess I'm just a bit wary of using it lol.

Weird that the forum software first said attachment size 200k but now it is saying 50k lol

Oh and can anyone tell me if there is a way to have the parking sensors turn off for the long term? When i shut off the engine and take out the keys the parking sensor becomes enabled again.

Welcome Dwiea.
The rail definitely ain't right. But you've said they're taking care of that so that's good.
Reverse park assist (RPA) should beep once then be silent until an object is detected.
Front park assist (FPA) was not factory fitted on Active models in Australia (don't mean it wasn't where you are) but a kit is available. FPA (Aussie kit other regions may differ) will work when the vehicle is doing less than 10km/h and the handbrake is off. It will give a short beep every few seconds to confirm it is operating.
Neither will give a constant tone unless you are close to an object when operating correctly.
Does your vehicle have a towbar fitted? They sensors can pickup the ball sometimes.
The more interesting thing is that you say it gives a constant tone but starts beeping if you walk into the sensors range. And you say the sensors are active with the key out? That ain't right either. You quite possibly have a damaged wire or RPA module.
Strange.

No it's not from walking in front of it ... I meant when I am reversing i can be miles away and it as soon as I am in reverse there is a constant tone. Then when i get closer to an object it starts to beep.

The dealer has just phoned and said that it will need to be taken to a Hyundai dealer instead for both the RPA and roof rails (yay) which should prove more difficult because those dealers are further away lol.

Good excuse for a drive, though.
