From the forum I found I had to remove the drivers side wheel arch plastic cover. I managed that, though had to abuse some of the fasteners and cut through one screw. (Found a couple of small cavity wall plastic butterfly fasteners came in handy in  putting it back) The pump came off easily by lifting the plastic flap at the top of the pump; then wriggling the pump to ease the rubber seal free. I didn't need to disconnect either the electrical connection or the hoses. Water from the bottle flushed out and I was surprised at the slime in the bottom as I had always used a proper additive. Just water for me in future. The filter on the pump was clogged so I used a hose pipe and small brush to clean it. I also took the opportunity to flush the bottle out from the top. The pump went back on easily and is fine. Hardest part was getting the arch cover off. Getting it back was easy.

Well done.
For anyone else who does this the gauze filter will easily pop out of the pump with the help of a small flat blade screwdriver. Makes cleaning much easier
