Took car in for its first full service today to main Hyundai dealer. Come home and let car temp cool down and checked oil level, the dipstick has 2 small holes and is marked with the letters F & L. The oil level is reading about 10mm above the F hole. Should I have them drain some oil or will it be ok, thanks guys.

I've not long ago had the same problem except mine is a petrol, 10mm is roughly 1/2ltr.

I called Hyundai about it to vent my disapproval of poor service standards ( as the cabin filter hadn't been changed in two years and was filthy also ) and the waste of my oil which I supplied, they told me it should be fine but they would prefer to have the excess removed, I took my car back two weeks later and the service manager mentioned they had sacked the technician who had worked on my car - they supplied me with a new cabin filter "free of charge" and drained the excess oil.

300 mills of oil drains back into the sump in the Diesel engine when it is off, so you would expect a slightly high reading IMO. I suggest, just leaving it alone.

Run the engine and recheck 5 min after turning off. If its over still id go get it rectified.

Thanks guys, took the car back to the dealership today and they said it was ok so I followed the guide in the handbook which says to let engine warm up to running temperature then turn it off and check oil after 5 minutes which should be between the F & L markings. The oil was about 1 mm below the F mark so hopefully it should be ok. I have always been used to checking oil in the morning when the car is cold, never before when warm.
