Hi to all!
I have a Huyndai i30 gd 1.4crdi European version.
I have 27.000km driven and it's a few days that in the morning
I hear a noise from the front  brake pads only in the mornings when I take my car and for the first 10-20 minutes only .
After that the noise disappear. So I hear the noise when the car is "cold".

I need to change the brake pads? Or is it normal? I use the brake lightly.

Thank you in advance!
Chris

No replacement required, I'm sure.

Sounds like the brakes just needs to be disassembled, cleaned and greased up again.

If you're not able to do it yourself, then it's not more than about an hours work for a skilled mechanic..  :D

The brake pads used in the  Euro built GD do seem much softer than what was used in the previous FD, so it is possible. I would certainly get them checked ASAP. Hopefully Henning is right though. He used to be a service manager :D

If he can wear up the front pads in 27.000 km then they're either stuck or he doesn't brake lightly, as he say.

The only cars I've ever seen wear front pads in less than 30.000 km was on those vehicles we sold as first responce vehicles to the emergency services Company.

We did have someone with a GDe reporting premature brake wear Henning (somewhere on here) and the amount of brake dust that gets on Trish's wheels from her very limited driving has to be seen to be believed. I think Trish's car has only done under 8500 kms in 16 months and yet every time it is washed the silver wheels look like something off an FD Trophy (charcoal wheels)!

You should wash it more than twice a year then.. :whistler: :snigger: :whistler:

The i40 throws a lot of brake dust.

I have also read of pads being stuffed before 30k.

I'm going to speak to my mechanic about changing the original pads for something less dusty.

@beerman  So that wouldn't affect warranty or insurance?

Check out the Green Stuff pads http://www.rdabrakes.com.au/page/Products-EBC-Brake-pads.aspx

Less dust and 20 - 25% better braking than OEM pads.

      Caloundra, Queensland.
Logic says to me that the fact this noise goes away as the brakes heat up would indicate they aren't worn out.
Rotors/ pads may be glazed.

But certainly worth getting them looked at.

Are they rough on the rotor? Yes I want it all....

Apparently not! the guys that tuned my car fit the EBC range on many of their cars and love them.

Finally the problem was that something was  stacked in pads.
It was removed by washing them with pressured water!

No need to change pads. it's too early the 27.000km
