Hi All
Been searching the past threads and just wanted to check - I have a 3/2012 Trophy FD i30 hatch, want to get a tow bar put on.

Does any manufacturer make a removable tow bar for this model? I was really keen on the Hayman Reese removable hitch (Light duty) but appears they only make it for the GD or Wagon and not the FD Hatch.

Is the only option for a removable one the genuine Hyundai?

I don't want to pay a lot, may as well probably settle for a standard towbar, but anyone have reco's for a place to get it done in Syd that is cheap ? Any particular brands I should avoid?

If you get a standard towbar, is it a pain/hard to be removing the ball all the time when not towing (like if it seizes)? Can't leave it on because it obscures numberplate..

Tks!

Hey Craig,
That one's not removable...? See this link for photo: :link: Hayman Reese Towbar - HYUNDAI ELANTRA 4DR & I30 5DR (Part No: 02249) - Best Price Auto

Also on your link it says Year   200610 - 201106 - only runs to June 2011 for some reason? Mine is 3/2012. Although I don't think any model changes occurred between then.

Can't for the life of me find another removable option other than genuine

The product type is listed as Light as is pictured here :link: Hayman Reese - Towbars - hayman reese

The one you have linked is a Standard type so there is some confusion between one of those sites in the type and models numbers given :undecided:

The year numbers mean little as they're all the same body.

Cheers for that. I rang Hayman Reese today and gave them this part# and description, they said it is a fixed type and not the removable tongue type - they don't make a removable tongue type for the i30 FD Hatch :( :( :( !

Never noticed the FD hatch could get the removal towbar.

I've got the Hayman Reese removable type, but always like to keep the tongue on... I've already been hit from behind in traffic... Having the towbar on damage the bumper of the other can, thankfully I was able to just drive off with no damage

Maybe try Genuine Hyundai... If not try a few wreckers

That's a shame :Pout:

If there isn't one available anywhere you could always go into a trailer manufacturers workshop and they'll make you one up, I had one made for my old VY SS ute in 2003 by Papas Trailers and it was about $400.

I have a genuine Hyundai towbar, the tongue is removable too but like you I just leave it on for a bit of protection.
The ball only slightly obscures the number plate, touch wood I've never been pulled up for it...  :D
