Hi Folks,

I'd like o know if is possible to change the alarm type when using the seat belts.

On Brazilian version, my i30 came with the alarm type that just alert the driver few seconds after you turn on the car. Or after you release it...

I read on the users manual that is another type of configuration, which alerts the driver until the belt be fitted...

How can I change it on the car? That is any configuration??

Hi aalacombe, welcome to the forum :D

So you are saying your i30 beeps at you just for a short while, then stops. You want it to carry on beeping until you fasten the belt?

I understand.

My i30 beeps when I've travelled a short distance and keeps beeping for 2 minutes, or until I fasten my belt. My guess is that it can be changed by your dealer. I don't think us drivers can do it ourselves.

I'd like to see what our other members have to say about the behaviour of their seatbelt warning system.

Again, welcome aboard :)

Beeps until I engage.  It might stop after 2 minutes but never leave it that long.

But again when I first got the car I placed a heavy item on the passenger seat and from memory it beeped until I moved it.

Will check this out.

PS I wonder what will happen if when I start off I don't belt up but allow it to beep. I then raise myself off the seat.
Will it stop beeping even with the car is moving?

Mine is the same as you guys - continuous beeping - but I've never had it beep long enough to see if it stops after 2mins.

@ eye30 - love to see you driving with yourself off the seat though

I tried this lol. It just keeps beeping. It's different to the passenger. I think it beeps continuously for the driver because someone must be sitting there to drive the car unlike the passenger which can either be there or not.

Unless your car is K.I.T.T.

they both beep for 2 min and then stop, but if you make the mistake to raise of the seat when you get back on it will start beepeng again for another 2 min and so on.And for the rear seats if a passenger fastens their seatbelt and then unfastens it while the car is in motion it will start beeping for 2 min or less.
I tried to drive off sitting up just out of curiosity to see if it beeps and it does, because it starts after you exceed 20km/h :)

I thought that if I push the seat right back on its runners and sit on the front edge of the seat this would take the weight off the pressure pad on the seat.

I'll try later

Or you could just turn up the stereo - no more annoying beeps!

I think the garage have to change the *preferences* with their computer connection, same as having the doors auto-lock at 5mph, or not as the case maybe.

Speak to the dealership, ask them to change the prefs to what you want, I am sure there'll be other things which are up for negotiation as well...

Asa

Do these sorts of changes need to be mentioned when/if on-selling the car?

Caveat emptor

I guess that the buyer will have had a test drive and found things to their satisfaction, or not as the case may be.
