I noticed the camshaft cover on my GD diesel is quite oily at the gearbox end. When I wiggle the bolt which holds the camshaft TDC sensor you can see there is a bit of play in it. The bolt also acts as one of the anchor points for the plastic engine cover. The bolt isn't loose, I tried it with a spanner and it was tight, so I'm guessing there's a threaded bush embedded in the camshaft cover which is a bit loose. Other than the fact that oil seeps out of it and makes the cover grimy, is it otherwise harmless? The photo is how it looks after I wiped away most of the grime. If I was to replace the sensor, is it just a direct swap or does it have to be calibrated in some way?
