Hi, I am having a problem with my Hyundai i30 I estate (FD) 1.6 CRDi. When the outside temperature drops below -10°C, it is extremely difficult to start. I have already replaced all four glow plugs, the fuel filter, and the battery, but the engine is still struggling to fire up.
I recently noticed that when I try to pre-heat, the glow plug symbol on the dashboard turns off after just a few seconds. Could this be a fault with the glow plug relay, or is there something else wrong? Thanks in advance for the help!

I have a similar problem, but I haven't investigated it yet. The glow plug light should only turn on for a few seconds. If you have, or know someone with a voltmeter, try measuring whether there is voltage on the bus-bar that connects to the glow-plugs, when the glow plug light is on. If there is no power to the glow-plugs then it could be the relay, or the fuse.

My glow plug light goes out fast too, but it's only telling you enough time should have gone by, they stay on longer I believe.

Have you actually tested for power at the plugs? I would also change the fuel filter too to make sure fuel is getting through without issue.

Replace the glow plugs bus bar. It's cheap and probably the fix. It was in my case.
