The new UK (probably rest of Europe too) i30 genuine mats don't come with reinforced heel areas on the drivers side of the car like they used to.

As a result I now have a hole right though the carpet cause by the heel of my right foot.

I've treated the carpets very well, including scotchguarding them when new and just before winter. I've always removed them to allow them to dry when wet. They are only 13 months old.

To be fair the passenger ones still look OK, but the driver's one will need replacing soon. I'll be swapping to rubber mats like on my old car.

Disappointing considering the price.

We got Dash Mat and Floor mats thrown in with Trish's car (forgot to insist on them being the genuine Hyundai ones though - so will be interesting to see..) I will give some feedback about their quality in the next day or so compared to the supposedly genuine ones I got off ebay for my hatch...a year or two ago..

Just a thought Lorian .. why not just get a a thick piece of leather or rubber and contact cement it over the hole. You are a fairly enterprising fellow so I reckon you could do it in a way that would look fairly professional!

Yes not a bad idea, I'm toying with the idea of riveting an aluminium heel plate, and painting it black to match. I'l need to source some thick enough, I only have thin stuff.

It would have been much better if they had kept the heel protector in the design. I think the australian ones probably still do.

If you had sports pedals you could leave the Aluminium unpainted  (think paint might come off and look unsightly in time!)

This stuff is quite cheap for a small piece, and is 3mm thick. I might try it. I have expoxy and rivets so the outlay would be small.

For sure I would have to invest in the sports pedals if I didn't paint it.

Trish got the Genuine hyundai mats with her new cW they seem pretty sturdy and have a vinyl patch on them where your heals go...(I'll try and remember to post a picture)

That metal would look quite good as a heal plate  :goodjob:

I've velcro'd my previous non-Hy rear mat to the new Hy front drivers mat... works a treat, no slippage & easily changed when it wears through...  :goodjob:

My mats are genuine HY 3.5 years old.

They didn't have a heel rest.

My Hyundai i30 mats are quite worn after 8K (well, drivers). The carpet under it is also well crushed down.

Very poor design

Here is a fairly ordinary phone picture of Trish's Drivers mat I took today (we still get the heal support in Australia (The workmanship looks a bit better than the ones I got off Ebay for my i30)

I'm on my second set of mats like those ones. the first set was replaced under warranty because the heel pad started peeling off.
