My top center compartment (at dashboard head) is fixed (no compartment).

I want to remove my radio - how do I open it?

Thanks

Newest i30 models are made in Czech republic. Those dont have a top compartment.
Also mine is the same and how to disassemple is a mystery also for me.

I got it !

It is so easy.

I just finished pulling the center compartment and installed the parrot headset.

there is no need to open the center compartment in order to reach the radio. You just need to pull out (towards you) the whole panel.

Start with the clips on the lower part (near the air condition switch) and then the upper part - just place the proper tool between the rubber part of the dash and the center compartment and pull it towards you

hear are some pics

Good work Kosmo. What did you use as "the proper tool" ?

The tool I'm using is a standard tool for dashboard removing but I believe you can use any sharp plastic which look the same

Thanks Kosmo. Looks like a standard crow bar would also do the trick

Hi!

This post sounds helpful regarding the removing process of dashboard in Czech manufactured i30. You attached some pics but I can't open and check them. Could you please send me those pictures to me (teglasia@freemail.hu)

thanks
A

Hi there and welcome

Unfortunately the pix on this thread have been corrupted when we moved host and unless the OP comes back and reposts them we have no way of rescuing them.  Sorry :'(

I guess there may be other old attachments that are corrupt too, all the more reason that people should take heed of the warning and host photos somewhere else, and not include them as attachements, as it can be a disappointment to go back to old articles and find no pics.

The really important thing to know about the missing pics is if you have a Czech built car with no top cubby hole/storage tray (production from around July 2009 onwards) DO NOT try to prise the top off, it won't come out, and you will damage the dashboard.

Thanks for the warning, helpful.

My i30 was manufactured after the mentioned time so it has an underneath fixed top. I've found some info about the removal of dashboard. From the bottom (AC switch) to the upper part of dashb with a plastic device in the gap between the hard and soft part of the dashboard the hard part can be removed.
