I am mightily impressed by Fords current thinking, the newest version of their EcoBoost engine packs 123bhp into a 1 litre unit!

That really is impressive, and with such a small footprint too.

Can they really produce 1000 engines per day?

Great post

Certainly looks good on paper. I know generators use 3 phases as the 120 degree geometry is supposed to be the most efficient.
I know a 4 stroke only fires every other stroke which means a power stroke every 240 degrees but with a decent flywheel to carry the momentum it should be fine.
Which then raises the question - what about a 3 cylinder 4 stroke diesel.
Or even 3 cylinder, 2 stroke direct inject diesel - FICHT technology. (No waste fuel from the intake cycle carried through to the exhaust.)
Sorry for getting excited and off the topic a bit.

I thought the Mazda RX8 was still a rotary??

Anyway, they are very expensive to service and if anything goes wrong with them, ridiculously expensive to fix, so I guess that is where they went!

that's an impressive amount of h/p from a stock 1.0ltr engine, imagine what the boy racers can add to them in the way of extra h/p when they go on sale.  :Drive:
