Just to follow on from my previous post about difficulties in engaging first gear (i30) which seems ok at present, I would like some advice regarding a slight noticeable clunk rattle  when I move up through the gearbox.

This has started to happen mainly when changing up at slow speed, usually going uphill ie when the gears seem to be taking up the slack. It's seems ok when you change gear at higher revs. I haven't noticed this on previous cars. Hs anyone else noticed this and is it 'characteristic' of the i30? Could it be something loose/knocking rather than the gearbox/engine itself?

Thanks again.

I'm sure we've heard of this issue before; the possibility of a loose exhaust coupling was mentioned (I think it was our moderator eye30 who found a bent/broken exhaust clasp on his)

On mine the exhaust pipe was moving and it was catching on a bent plate under the car.
  • 1.4 Petrol Active I'm no expert, so please correct me if

Thanks for the good suggestions- maybe if it is one of these faults I should just wait to have it checked at the first service.

Not sure I had this issue myself, but probably had plenty of others you aint got :).  As long as my car was safe and did not seem nothing major, I just gave the car a few thousand miles to run in properly and near enough all niggles I had with the car had disappeared.

As we have a 5 year warranty, I did not see any urgency to worry about every problem in the end, even though I posted them on this forum
