Hi everyone,

I have a quick question. I am heading on a road trip with some friends and I was wondering that if I disconnect my subwoofer and remove it from my boot but leave the amp connected, will it do any harm to either the amp or the battery/car? As in, the amp will still get the 12v trigger volt and will have a signal input from my rear speaker but not have the subwoofer to output to and not having any load on the amp, will it do damages?

On the other occasions that I have removed my sub, I just didn't turn my stereo on so there was no input to the amp to cause any damage but on this longish road trip I was wondering what would happen if I turned the radio on.

Thanks in advance!

I quickly downloaded the JL manual from the net. It is an A1400 and I checked the manual http://tinyurl.com/c728u6f and it doesn't have an on/off switch. I also realized that in the input connectors are just RCAs, so I just disconnected it. If there is no input load, but the amp is still powered, this should be fine correct? Just need to properly shield the loose cables from the amp now.

if you are really concern, just install an inline on/off switch. Then just turn it off and no need to worry. Don't get a cheap switch..get one that takes the load of the amp
