Strictly speaking, he travelled by air, so he should have a pilots licence

Crazy but at least he knows he's alive.
I had breakfast with a friend & ex-colleague of mine the other day and he kindly pointed out that at our age, we might get another twenty or maybe twenty five years or so of active life and then it's all over  :'(
It made me feel pretty depressed actually and I started questioning what I have achieved. :undecided:
I know it's all in the mindset but it just hit home a bit I guess.
I'll have to pull out the bucket list and see if I can start ticking a few off.

It was interesting how his great Grandfather plunged to his death in the 70's  :sweating:

Dave .. I hear where you are coming from but my body feels like I have done a lot ..

I knew someone who was alive 1 week and on the same day a week later was a pile of ashes. Scary stuff  :fum:

Yeah I think we all know someone who has had that happen..

When they are around your age or younger then it really hits home (especially if they just drop dead - not from an accident)  :sweating:

I used to take history class with the guy in school, he was in his early 20's, Easter accident victim (passenger / drink driver), so sad, a wasted life  :blubber:

It's a bit like tightrope walking, the future on one side, us in the middle and the knowledge / expectation of death. The biggest danger IMO is when the death side starts to influence your thinking and decision making process. I do get jolted when someone else dies and it was unexpected though. Good on db08 for collecting cars and planning for the future. I don't worry too much about my own mortality. I've married, had 2 wonderful children who are now adults, lived more years than some, made mistakes, neither rich, poor or famous, which is pretty much how I want it.

Yeah I don't regret much I have done or haven't done. There are about a dozen moments in my life where i have said something i wish I hadn't but i have learnt to bite my tongue (mostly) these days... :whistler:

I need to lose a little weight and get motivated with a bit of exercise but what will be will be

I'm still learning to bite my tongue but hopefully getting better with age.
I have a daily goal to try to do at least three good deeds for others which is something I started quite a while ago.
It doesn't have to be anything great, even just letting someone in front of you in the traffic counts.  :D
I'm a big believer in the "pay it forward" idea as opposed to the "pay it back."
But to be honest, I guess I don't feel quite as content as you guys sound (and I'm glad that you are  :)  :goodjob2:)
I still feel like I would like to do more and make a bigger difference than I have but who knows what the future holds. Let's call it just slight discontentment.  :)
And there are those of you on this very forum who I look up to and try to emulate when it comes to doing the right thing. I don't think we're ever too old to learn.
As for losing weight Dazz - I'm with you on that one.
I won't go into details but I've just been given a huge wake-up call health-wise so like it or not, this year I have to make some big changes to my lifestyle. Which is a bit of a bugger because I quite like my lifestyle.  :disapp:

That's a pretty good ethic you've got there db08. There is a very fine line between complacency & discontentment. Given your career, discontentment probably comes naturally to you in your desire to do good deeds.

I let a lady walk into a cafe today before I did, but that was the only good deed for the day
