As I have said in a previous topic, if you don't like this new technology, maybe you should go back to driving a 1963 6 volt VW Beetle (Type1 for us air cooled lovers).
That'll do me.
Took me everywhere. Great fuel consumption. Fun to drive.

Gee, you looked different with bushy dark hair!

I thought you would appreciate the VW reference, Trev.  My first car was a 1500 Beetle.  Great car, but not as reliable as the 1300.  Mine was 12 volt.  It used to sit on 70 mph all day.  Wouldn't go much faster, didn't like hills, took about 6 months to get to 70 mph.

I did have it "off the clock" (about 90 mph from memory) one day on the Newell Hwy, passing a semi-trailer.  It didn't like it, and it let me know, shaking, weird noises.  I backed off to 60 mph and let it cool down a bit.

That one was 1200.
1962 1/2 model - they introduced it mid may through the year with the bumper over-riders and a few other small mods.
Re the overheating, it never did, but I pulled off the highway just north of Nerang one Sunday night to let the traffic ease. Couple of mates and I plus our boards on the roof. Group of young bloods came by (very slowly in the crawling traffic) and asked me if it had boiled.
Yeah, I said. But it's OK. I've got a spare engine in the back. :happydance:
