A DAD upset about a book that had been assigned to his daughter was arrested for breaking her school’s two minute talk rule. 
 
William Baer was upset that a book had been assigned to his daughter without her parents being notified.

The book Nineteen Minutes, written by Jodi Picoult, examines the events leading up to and after a school shooting in New Hampshire. It contains a graphic sex scene between two teenagers.

Where is that breaking the two minute rule? What about the rights of the person who had waited just as long to raise an item important to them to the school board who had their time (and no doubt thought process) interrupted by someone who thought that their grievance was far more important than anyone else's? It seems to me old mate sought and got the attention he was seeking...

jails are overpopulated. And they winge about it. But then  arrest someone who just spoke up again after his turn......

If you were the person he was continually interrupting, you might feel differently.

The advice on here when someone won't let go of something is to ignore them. Whilst I tend to agree with it, sometimes the rights of the majority should be considered over the "rights" of one.

This guy used the wrong forum to air his grievance. The rules are for 2 minutes and clearly that was not going to be acceptable.

It was just expensive sensationalism IMO.

Shame on that copper is all I can say.... 

My local library has a large print edition of this book (my wife is the librarian) and a neighbouring library (where I am the librarian) has a standard print edition.  All up, the South Australian library system has over 100 copies and over 10 copies of an audio book.

Seems to be very popular as well over half of the copies are on loan or on hold.
