Blue badge holder Phillip Skeates was outraged when the hungry officer pulled in front of him as he waited for one of the spaces to become available.

He took a photograph of the officer returning with his burger and posted it on Facebook - but embarrassed police had it taken down minutes later.

Phillip, 44, said: "Being a disabled person, I think this is such a terrible thing to do.

"I was so angry because if anyone else had done that they'd certainly have got a ticket. This is an abuse of power. When he walked back to the car there were lots of people shaking their heads and tutting at the officer.

It should be pointed out that disabled spaces in private car parks have no standing in criminal law.

Judging by the number of such spaces in my local supermarket half the population has a personal space. :whistler:

AB if you have a FB account go to a page called Perth Crap Parkers, you'll see numerous examples of Emergency services parking in disabled bays, taking up two parking spots, all coincidentally outside of Fast food Restaurants and people taking the pictures reporting the same thing officers going into said fast food outlets for sustenance

If it's a signed/marked disabled bay then you can be towed and fined in Australia and it's a hefty fine as well.

Yes but only if they have the balls to impose the fine, because this has to be instigated by either the shopping centre management of the council where the bays are placed

In NSW, the shopping centre owner/management need to delegate the parking areas to local government authority (council) to empower Rangers or ordinance officers to police the areas like Handicapped Driver bays.  The areas to be enforced need to be 'road related areas' within the definition of the Australian Road Rules and/or the Local Government Act.  Trust me, it was my area of expertise in my 35 year policing career, mainly in the traffic area. :whistler:

As far as this story goes, poor behaviour by the officer involved.  Sack him Danno.
