On wednesday the front and rear washers were not ejecting fluid although the motor was making a noise.

A quick check of the tank showed fluid present and no obvious leak as no water on the ground.

As you have to remove the plastic covers/wheel cover to check the pipes and motor decided i'd ring the dealer.

Took it in today for 1pm.

All sorted by 1.20pm.

What had happened was the washer additive put in the water tank had solidified and clogged up the tubes.

A quick blow though of compressed air cleared the lines and all working, in fact the front spray is alot better than before and the spray now covers a fair area on the front screen.

Charge - £nought.

So this garage gets a thumbs up from me!!

Well as i have not put any in since i think before easter, then unless it was that but i have put water in since so should have diluted, i expect it may have been topped up when it was serviced in june.

If they used the genuine stuff shouldn't have had a problem.
I see it sometimes where the inlet strainer of the pump gets blocked up with a thick white gloop. Have to remove strainer and blow out with air and flush tank with clean water. I dont know the reason but I theorise its something to do with water quality.

Is this relatively easy to do (i.e. without taking it to the dealership)?

Also, any brands of screenwash that are best avoided?

Fairly easy. Remove either rhf inner guard or front bumper to access pump.
Pump mounts by o-ring interference at bottom and clip in top.
Remember to test before putting back together to make sure you put hoses right way around.

Ok so front washers decided not to spray this morning.  Back washer ok.

Opened bonnet and located a thin black coloured rubber tube running just inside the engine compartment.

Look for the washer bottle then on the left running along the body work towards the driver, rhd car not sure re lhd, you will find it.

It has a join in the tube .

Removed one section and blew air thro' using foot pump.
Did same with other.

The water in the tank bubbled up so must have a very high concentrate of washer cleaner it.

Hey presto back to full spray.

Now i'm going to run tank down and refill several times with clear water to clean the system
