Hi guys,

I just got an i30 and am brand new to the forum :)

For my first modification I am looking to get some DRL's and xenon lights, I've looked around and found some parts but I want to double check if they are compatible / I'm not getting ripped off (overpaying).

Would really appreciate your help guys - oh btw I have an Australian i30 Active X 2016 model.

Cheers!  :)

Hi ko

Just to let you know that Xenon HID lights are illegal on vehicles that aren't factory released with them, Xenon's require the auto levelling feature that your vehicle wouldn't have.

If you choose to still do it  you will require the 35w ( 3200Lm - 1600Lm per bulb ) versions for high and low beams, the low beams sit behind a projector lens which will direct their brightness.

55w versions ( 4500Lm ) would be way to bright to oncoming traffic and you wont be able to reduce the brightness.

DRL fogs are slightly cheaper here :link: Parts Bumper DRL FOG Light Lamp Cover FIT Hyundai 2012 2016 Elantra GT I30 | eBay

Make sure to double check your high and low bulb requirements as mine ( 2013 i30 Euro built ) takes H7 bulbs for both high and low.

After re-looking at what bulbs you had linked I realised you are only looking at Halogen/Xenon bulbs :head_knock: which aren't true Xenon/HID, I've no experience in these bulbs so cant offer much help with those sorry.

Thanks for the help Craig! I've gone ahead and bought the DRLs.

Regarding the bulbs, how do I check what my car's bulb requirements are?

The manual should say or you can remove the dust caps and possibly be able to view the types with a torch, last resort is to remove them...don't touch the bulb with your fingers as the oils will wear out the bulb.

My low beams simply twist to release, the high beams are secured with a spring clip.

Those H7 55w bulbs you have linked in your first post say they are multi-coloured, probably not the correct colour type to use :undecided: I've recently started a topic on some 6000k Xenon look Halogens which I think would be a better colour type :link: Xenon Halogen bulb replacement
