Sat Nav update
August 17, 2016, 08:14:41
Hi all, long time reader first time poster. Hope I'm in the right forum. I'm in Melbourne Australia. Just brought my 4th Hyundai. Traded my 2000 Grandeur (grand old girl served me well, sad to see it go) for a 2013 i30 Elite manual MY2014. I have been driving it for 3 weeks now and I'm loving it. So I'm starting to play with all the bells and whistles, getting use to all the nav warnings and keyless entry. I have been reading this forum for a while now and I guess its time for me to join seeing that I am now an owner. My question is seeing that my car is now two years old and has been serviced by a third party rather then an Hyundai dealer how do i know if the sat nav is up to date and how can I update it. I have looked at the
Hyundai | Home | HERE
site and it tells me To get the latest version of your map, you will need to contact your local Hyundai dealer.”
Is there an option to upgrade the maps without having to go to a dealer. I intend getting my car serviced by my regular mechanic. Also this site does not have the option to select Australia as a country of choice.

I don't believe there is any way in Australia to get your maps updated other than a dealer. Having had 3 x i30's all without Navigation screen can't talk from experience though.
Apparently, the updates are well out of date (as are many manufacturer GPS units) Shouldn't cost you anything to ask them to check yours for possible updates. If you can score a free update with a service it might be worth just getting them to do the next one. You can reduce the cost by buying your filters cheap on ebay and your oils on special, then they can only charge you for labour.

Here are instructions from Hyundai AU website on how to see what software ypdate you have installed - presuming your unit matches this description.
Hyundai
My 2015 i30 was updated to 2014Q3 in Dec 2015. It is due for its first service next week - I'm hopeful that 2015Q3 will be installed at least. There is a prossibility that the Android Auto App may get installed also - have to wait & see, not that I'm really sure of what benefit it will bring to me.
Hope you got something sorted with your nav system :-)

I just had my 45,000km service on my 2013 i30 in October. Luckily I scored another sat nav update, ( tech promised me one at my last service and i made him write it down on his business card so they had to honour it). I checked the settings afterward and it is 2015 Q3, They are always at least 1yr out of date when installed and can only be installed by your Hyundai dealer at a servicce, unfortunately.
Note - I won't be getting an update next service as is not worth paying $150 when i can use my portable Navman which has free lifetime updates, received quarterly so they are more up to date.

Just had my annual service done at Paul Wakeling Hyundai in Campbletown. Satnav was updated to 2015 Q3. They sorted the very long time it takes for the safety warning to go away before navigation can proceed - in doing so however, they managed to erase all my saved favourites, trip history & fuel consumption log - never mind!
