My Partners i30 Turbo Diesel Automatic with 200k has developed a tranny issue this morning on her way to work; seems to not be selecting overdrive. She was trying to get up speed on the on-ramp and the car seemed to not engage 4th/overdrive and was losing power in Drive. She managed to manually select 3rd and get it up to 80ish with high revs to get off the motorway. Since then, the car will not move in reverse. I can feel the revs change as it selects reverse but it won't move under its own power, no matter how much acceleration I use. Engine sound under revs does sound different when reverse is selected compared to neutral.
I have been reading up on the VB issue and seems to be the same issue, but I did chuck my OBD2 reader on it and it is throwing a P0734 (Gear Ratio Detected is incorrect) error which I have not come across on any of the previous threads.
Any ideas?
She has had the car since new and have never had an issue with it prior to now. I don't think she has had the tranny serviced.
