What you can do with a single Pound on a Sunday to really hack someone off on a Monday!

Note:
Trolleys are linked together by a 12inch link chain with the dispenser attached to the trolley handle and the other end having a widget which goes into the dispenser. Here in the UK to access a trolley you put a £1 coin into a dispenser and it releases the widget.

 Over here they treat trolleys like gold.. Even a reward for recovery of abandoned trolleys (so they don't leave them out overnight or over the weekend (they are put safely away inside the store)

That looks like a bl**dy lot of trolleys. It would be fun to make that big loop spin

At a Tesco's near me they have painted a line at the exit to the car park/ walk way, I think a blue line, and there are notices warning you that the trolley will stop at the blue line so as to stop you taking them outside the supermarket perimeter.

I've never tested it but............... why today was there a trolley some 20 yards on the other side of the blue line.

Does anyone know whether the trolley does stop at the line??

i watched a program one night on gps technology in trolleys,it showed a shopping center in the USA that used a thing that makes the wheels lock up and couldn't be pushed past the shops carpark perimeter. maybe its the same thing you mentioned, or they are just bluffing at your shops.

I wouldn't think for 1 minute they would shell out for GPS on all the trolleys they have at the store, must be 100's, so my guess is they are bluffing.

Like I said earlier there is a reward offered for recovery of trolleys (Woolworths I think) something like "up to $1000" but there would have to be lots of fine print 'caus that sounds like an awful lot and you would thing it could be open for dodgy practices

the trolleys in my area if found by the local council or by laws officers are impounded and are virtually offered back to the shop that owns them the same as an impounded vehicle, big dollars are involved in there recovery of the stores owner. I've seen on a single week end in my area alone half a dozen dumped trolleys.people shop and push them close to their home and dump them a couple of hundred metres from their home.

its actually a draw!!

when you read the fine print it says "report a missing trolley and go into the draw for a chance to win $1000"

Supermarket near us has those signs up.  If you try to push the trolley out of the carpark, the wheels just freeze up and you can't push it no matter how hard you try.  Perhaps I live in an area considered dangerous to shopping trolleys  :D  Only the one supermarket out of five has this system.  Aldi makes you put a gold coin ($1 or $2 for our foreign correspondents) and the other three just put up with people wandering off with their trolleys.....they employ people to round them up from the carparks.

LOL i dont see the point in putting a system in that stops the wheels... to me thats like saying

"go on take the damm trolley, you know its an easy challange that just requires you to lift it and carry it away, come on its not that hard, do it, do it"

where as the gold coin... well im a 'tight arse' i want my $1 back hahah
