Hello all,
I have a Hyundai I30 1.4 petrol. My first issue started when I felt a jolt that I am led to believe was a misfire. After this as I was slowing down from 60 mph to a roundabout all power was lost from the car. It took awhile for the car to restart again. As the car did restart the rev counter was not working. I've had a mechanic complete a diagnostic which showed up the misfire but nothing else. The engine management light is also on. I've read some previous posts on here related to the crank shaft sensor being the problem. Can anyone recommend if they believe this is the problem and whether it would be beneficial to start with this first as a process of elimination.

No speedo is often a sign of crankshaft sensor problem - but I believe it will usually push a code in the engine management system - if the light is on you need a cheap ODB code reader to confirm the code.
