Hi all, got my i30 1.6 GLS three days ago. Great forum & glad to join all you happy owners. Here we can only choose between the 1.6 & 2.0 (petrol). Heard some talk of a diesel on its way later this year.

Is there a reason for not having the diesel on SA?

Do other marques have diesel models?

Yes, there are lots of oil burners from all marques. The reason for not importing the i30 diesel is the same reason the i30 petrol was only introduced in South Africa in 2010 - Money. Our currency (ZAR) was too weak & only started getting stronger at the beginning of last year.
