When I ordered my i30 Comfort I asked if I could have parking sensors fitted (they are only standard on the Premium model in the UK). Our last car had them and the missus kinda took them for granted ;)
The dealer advised that they are fitted as an aftermarket extra for £300GBP ($650 AUD). My local Halfords store will fit a similar product for half that amount, question is will it void the warranty if I fit 3rd party sensors? Halfords couldn't answer the question but some drilling to the rear bumper is required.

I would ask the CS executive directly, regarding the warranty issue

Julie Clark [Julie.Clark@hyundai-car.co.uk]

She's given me nothing but straight answers so far, but see below.

Granted, she gave me the answer that "Hyundai Motors UK LTD will not retrospectively change the specification of your vehicle to provide/supply a second remote unlocking device", but a bit of pressure soon changed her mind, and she acknowledged that :)

Give her a try

i think a voi in warranty can only occur when you would ask for warranty, when something isn't working, that could have been damaged while installing aftermarket parts into your hyundai - in this instant if they would drill a hole in your dash and your dash malfunctioned it could be done so by PROVING it was done by the installing of this item (the monitor for parking sensors) or peeling off paint on the rear/front bumper arround the holes drilled cause of sensors.

L3on - £300 seems a bit on the high side.

This is from the HY UK web site  link below:

Reversing Sensors
Model: i30
Part No.: H5699701
Price(RRP): £129.99 including VAT - unpainted.
As your car is black then they will not require painting.

It appears that they are charging £170 labour which seems steep as I would expect the job to be no more than 1 hour labour.

Where do you live (put location in profile as it helps when discussing etc) as it might be worth checking other local Hy dealers for supply/fit prices.
