Depends on the brand of film used, the manufacturer's standard tint in the glass, thickness of the glass maybe? Amount of light getting into the car via windscreen etc i think.

My limo tint on the i30 doesnt seem as dark as it did on the Getz, and ive seen friends with limo, and there's appears to be darker. But if you look side on, looks dark. *2 tinted windows, side ur on, and the far side + back window.
If you loom from the rear, well you have the massive windscreen letting light in.

I was tempted to get the front driver and passenger window lightly tinted. May still do it over the summer time, despite the legality of it, and the fact of MOT. May just D.I.Y it, save money etc.

Legal 35%? Woah thats really light to me lol.
UK laws, As far as i know (May stand corrected) are that anything behind the B pillar, (behind drivers seat) can be tinted as dark as u desire, I.E paint it with emulsion paint if you really want to, and it's still technically legal, as it's similar to that of a small van.

Sun strips are a different matter, with several hundreds opinions on the laws. My understanding is that if it comes past the wee A mark on the windshield ( not all have them) then its illegal, or if its in the line of vision for the driver, or depper than the sun visor would cover when flipped down.

I think it is 35% light transmission .. Most seem to go same all around over here (looks better IMHO) except maybe on a van or something

My car has a tinted band across the top of the screen from the factory (but very narrow) I don't think we are allowed to use aftermarket sunstrip over here?

Some cars over the UK, dont know about Europe, come with the band on the windscreen, a gradual dark to light fade?
I think the 3% all round would be subtle, and look well.

As i said, if i D.i.Y it, means I can easily remove and its not costing me a trip to the guy I normaly get to do mine. I asked them about the first shade of tint, something like a light smoke, 80% light in, and they said they woudn't even take my money off me for doing it, because a lot of people aren't satisfied with it. They know im a fussy guy :)

That's some cost, is it all the windows that were done?
Mine only initially cost £100 = $150 AUD

At least in Qld, the windscreen strip must be above the highest sweep of the wipers.
But I have ignored that.
I'll worry about it if anyone says anything.
It is still above my line of sight.

I think he means 260 each (Australian Dollars). Pretty good price actually. Mine and my wife's were a fraction more than that I think.

Figured that lol :) seems costly, though if it was all glass except windscreen sounds average pricing for what we pay over here :)

^^^
That's just the way it is in a big wide open country with small population.
I see the same thing with North America pricing through my son and his family in Canada.

But we pay less for fuel than you guys, and that's an ongoing cost.  :happydance:

Fuel prices here are stupid, bout $2.21 AUD per litre for diesel here, if your lucky. Petrol(Gasoline would about 5C cheaper.
If you use Gallons i apologies, i dont have the skills to convert :(

As long as you what you pay for is a good job, nobody can complain :)
