By the time I left there they were up to, "If we give you $15,000 + $2,000 off the price of a new i40 (I'm eligible for a fleet discount), will you sign a deal today" scenario.I didn't. But they are going to call me back. That's a $21,500 change-over.
They would probably give you a bit less trade on a cheaper i30 than on an i40 no harm in asking though I've got used to the room and ride of a bigger car now I would go the i40

Trish said Yuk with the blue interior.. but Trish, the early i30 interiors were beige, but the black is nicer. the interior colour may differ depending on the paint colour. Beige must have been a Aus thing, all UK spec were black, looked more 'grown up' ive seen pics of the beige/brown look.. Exterior colour could be a factor, or might be an optional extra on the top spec, same as the new Veloster/IX35, adding a different colour leather

Russ, No trade makes a lot of difference ..
Dave.. You would still be welcome if you had an i40..
Quote from: Dazzler on January 23, 2012, 10:50:57Russ, No trade makes a lot of difference .. Not to the total price.....Do the sums, $21,500 + $15,000 + $2,000 = $38500The price I got was $37,500 or thereabouts.....
I'm hanging out for the 2012 i30 to hit the showroom.
We always pay a premium in W.A. when on-road costs are taken into account because our state government needs our help more.Queensland seem to have the cheapest cars from what I've seen.

A couple of grand which makes transporting it over not worthwhile but a flight to Qld & a drive back worth considering if you feel like a holiday. Our local car industry is (still) lobbying the state govt to reduce stamp duties on new cars which unfortunately aren't on a pro-rata sliding scale, just a linear sliding scale. So once a car price goes over a particular threshold, you pay the higher % rate on ALL of the purchase price, not just on the part that is over the threshold if that makes sense.
cheaper by much?
