Hi

New owner of an i30 CRDI and my missus managed to drop a ring down into the cavity under the handbrake/shifter.

I managed to remove 4 screws and the larger hex bolts, and the housing moves about, but it still seems connected to something under the Gearstick assembly, therefore im unable to get the ring...

Any ideas on how to lift it off/up.

Cheers Dar.

I guess it depends on the metal composition of the ring....but one of those magnetic rods, for retrieving dropped nuts in the engine area, might be useful.....even if you put a dob of "blu tack" on the end of it, if the magnet does not work, you might be able to press and pick up the ring.  :Prayer:

Double sided tape also may do the trick....depends how many carats the diamond is I guess.......

Congratulations on finding your ring. That's good news.
And you didn't even need that special tool to locate dropped nuts  :D  :goodjob2: That's always a good thing.

Hello Guys I own the new i30 and I was wondering if someone could help me with an additional diagram of the new i30's centre console! The reason is that my car, has not an armrest and I would like to buy an original one in order to install,But the local dealer can't help with the excuse that the car is very new and they have not armrest as a part(they don't have the parts codes)any help...
Ps forgot to write that the dealer also told me that IF should I install an armrest, then it probably goes with  the whole centre console

Nickoss
I failed to find any diagram of new i30 (to no avail for Cee'd too) in a place, where I use to borrowing drawing of old i30.
