  • Greetings from the Caribbean!
Good day all,
I have a problem with my I30...
I've had my I30 for 15 months now, and already replaced the third (middle) brake light twice!
The first time I've noticed it was a couple of weeks after delivery. This was replaced by the dealer.
The second time I had to pay it myself, because the light was cracked.
Now I'm noticing it again. I'm on my 3rd new light.  :'(
Is anyone else having this problem?
I'm pretty sure it's a manufacture seal problem...(due to the fact that the washer sprout thingy is inside the brake light unit)
please let me know if anybody else is having this issue...
-Jivan :goodjob2:

Seems I have the similar issue, too. I'm wondering whether I can get a new one for free or not (from the dealer). :undecided:

The second one that the dealer replaced, had a crack in it after a couple of months. I don't know how it got cracked, might me a treebranch hitting it, or during a car wash.
The water inside the brake light is the main issue, cracked or non cracked :(

No, I can't see a crack but after we collected our car, I noticed it was wet during winter / spring last year. It's dry at the moment  but it has rained recently so I expect it to moisten up again. Doesn't affect the operation of the device, just looks annoying.

both our i30's [3 years old] are dry and UN cracked.   could the crack be caused by the screws holding the unit in being over tightened?

(The same car wash broke my mom's rear wiper blade)

The reason I asked was because I asked the dealer if the aerial was OK in a drive through car wash, he said they didn't recommend it but explained how to unscrew the aerial. He seemed more concerned about swirling the paintwork, but he was devious SOB and I am also wondering whether the high tail light is susceptible to  damage in the dishwasher  :undecided:

I'm not a fan of car washes. Those that contact the vehicle certainly damage your paint & those that don't touch your car, clean with harsh detergents to compensate for no contact. Basically, you should clean the car yourself IMO.
