Ah, the age old question.  The truth is helicopters can't actually fly, they are so ugly that the earth naturally repels them, and as Tassie is the most beautiful place in Australia, and opposites attract, then naturally helicopters fly better on the Mainland.

I suspect our air force is in trouble. :scared:

And the hole in the Ozone layer is right above Tassie.  I wouldn't worry about the hole though, there is nothing in it.

FatBoy, I meant to ask you that this morning, do choppers fly better with or without ozone? :confused:

I reality, helicopters (and in particular, gas turbine helicopters) prefer cool, clear, dry air. The engines and rotors are more efficient. So they have a larger "power margin" in Tassie. They produce more power and require less. Hot and humid is the worst for performance.
