A woman has been arrested after a shop dummy was entered as a candidate for the council elections in Aberdeen.

The dummy was entered under the name Helena Torry bumpkin

We Aberdonians have been watching this one with interest, the article here takes it out of context a little.

The whole point of this "stunt" was to be able to elect a councillor who would represent the "silent majority", very clever IMHO

As it stands the elections are two weeks away and I have only had communications from 2 of the 8 individuals standing in my ward, how are we supposed to make informed decisions when we dont know what they stand for

I work in Local Government.      

Believe me it doesn't matter what they stand for before they are elected, they will fall into line with everyone else after they are elected.     

And they do become keen on seeing themselves in the local paper. 
So much so, that some of them would go to the opening of an envelope if it gets them publicity. 

But of course, I would never say anything bad about my employers.

I had the same issue once - a chocolate cake received following a speeding caution.
The next thing a phone call from internal Investigations. Bloody ridiculous.
