  • Sorry, but my karma just ran over your dogma.
I dropped Mrs UM's car off at Ultra Tune this morning to have a CV joint boot fitted and a wheel alignment done. I then drove her to work.

This afternoon I went and picked Mrs UM up from work and was driving back to the mechanics to pick the car up when I received a phone call from him advising me that the car had been stolen from the workshop. He told me someone must have come into his office while he was out road testing another vehicle and his other mechanic was busy in the workshop and taken the key from the keyboard. He didn't know what time during the day the car had been stolen but told me his staff member had reported the theft to the police.

I immediately rang my insurance company and advised them of the theft and headed to or local police station to provide them with Mrs UM's personal details. While we were at the police station, my mobile rang. It was at Bob Jane T Mart, the tyre dealer my mechanic had taken the car to for the wheel alignment.

After apologising profusely to Constable Plod for wasting valuable Plod time, we headed off to pick the car up from the tyre dealer, but not before I rang the mechanic to tell him we had located the "stolen" car. His response when I told him it was at Bob Jane, directly across the road from his workshop were he had dropped it off earlier in the day, was to say the least, flabbergasting. "Oh, that's great, it's not stolen then"

I then proceeded to Ultra Tune, where I advised the manager of all the nasty things Mrs UM had called him. He was very apologetic and told me he had completely forgotten he had taken the car for the wheel alignment.

All's well that ends well as he wavered the bill for $255 as a gesture of good faith.

Mrs UM's car is tucked up in the garage and we're now having a good laugh and a nice glass of red on our back patio.

Mrs UM is a ranga with the temper that goes with red hair. h
Her car was gifted to her by her dear old Dad before he passed away. Needless to say, Mrs UM was under impressed with Ultra Tune and called the young mechanic (who came over to Bob Jane to apologise when we picked the car up) a fu%¿ing moron. The poor bloke nearly shat  himself.

Cleveland?
Or Capalaba?

Trev, I'd prefer not to say on an open forum as in all other dealings I've had with Ultra Tune have been excellent and I've used more than one dealership.

Our Old Faithful Victa Craftsman got too hard to start today and the pull cord gave way. We're going to miss our dear friend after 22 years of great service. :blubber:

Here's a web picture that matches ours, although ours isn't anywhere near as clean. We tried getting it serviced 2 years ago and the techs refused. It's lasted this long. :blubber:
