Thanks Surferdude, I actually got paid for driving Cooper S's back around 1970. NSW Special Traffic Patrol Police, forerunner of the present Highway Patrol. The GTHO Falcons were not bad either, I won't even mention the Rambler Rebels, light in the tail, as were the GTR Toranas and Valiant Chargers. I have not driven the modern Coopers. So my comparison was from the Dinosaur years.
db08 been doing altanate week about running between the two cars for months now,the result is the same constantly,I drive to and from work on cruise control on both cars, all I can put it down to is the difference in the gearing ratios, the 6 spd cruising at 105kph sits on 2000rpm and the 5 spd cruising at the same spd sits on 2450 rpm,big difference when you spread that over 1500kilometres.Rick
Ahh, those were the days, did I see an Austin A30 in the beginning
Now seeing that and the video on bathhurst, boy did that all bring back memories,my first car Old FJ,second car A40,first sexual experience was in an old cortina 440,shame the cars those days didn't have the refinement of todays cars, they new how to build style back thenreckon the best car I had for style was the ol Wosley 24/80 straight six five speed, could have plowed a paddock with that Ol girl.Rick
