i want to change the standard speakers in my I30 classic, 60 plate.

i have some speakers that r gonna b great, and have taken off the front cards no probs as they have lecky switches. however the rears are more troublesome. the rear doors are manual on my motor so the handles need taking off first.

drivers side came out fine, having pulled a nearly u shaped spring retainer clip out. a little pressure on the card so i could see and a screwdriver to push said clip out, and we're away.

so why isnt the passenger side the exact same. i cant even see the clip, let alone get the handle off to do the speaker swap.

any ideas?

How strange that the NSR door should be different. I have electrickery to open my rear windows but if I had a handle, I'd expect to do exactly what you did - flex the card inwards to reveal a retaining pin/clip.

Keen to see how this pans out - good luck.

thinking might just cut the standard handle off and replace with billet items

Do you have one for the other rear door Misha?

I cannot imagine that they'd be different but Tom is suggesting that they may be  :undecided:

no, there is no other drawing with left rear door there, unfortunately.

Hmm, I doubt left and right rear doors do somehow differ  :undecided:

one would assume their is a difference although it baffles me to think there is in reality. why would a car manufacturer make different sides have different components for such a minor part of the car?

Pretty sure there is no difference, Misha, who kindly supplied the Hy graphic says there is no graphic for the other door, so that would indicate that the system of removal is exactly the same, which sounds perfectly logical to me.

i would concur with that. maybe the door handle was defective when put on, who knows. will probably go with the cut and replace option

I had a friend who within the past year or so bought a very late model second hand car,as secondhand cars here have a limited warranty(unless your lucky enough to by one with, remainder of new car warranty)he wanted to do the same as you change the speakers,he actually found Both the rear window winders araldited to the mechanism.

this may be the case with the passenger side winder. the drivers side came off without any forcing at all, removed the clip and away we went. imagine my consternation when the other side wouldnt budge  :wtf:

Ive found on my previous cars with manual window winders the easies way to remove those pesky C clips is with a rag/cloth.  :winker:  run it behind the window winder carfully and the cloth will grab the clip and remove it.  to re fit the handle just fit the clip back onto the handle and then just carefully push it back onto the window regulator spline. hope that makes sense.  :snigger:
