Then again, just about anything would be better than your previous Grande Punto

Sorry mate ;)

Blegh... but I will say that Punto was reliable & quick while I owned it.

No Hyundai i30 could get close.

194Bhp and 260ft lbs torque, returning an average of 52Mpg. Diesel of course.

£100 more.

Do you live North West or it would even pay you to have a day trip to Blackpool and double up with the service.

What belts would these be?

The fifth item on the schedule I posted ("engine tuning belt") is for the 2L only

So glad you said that. I thought I must have missed something in my understanding of the diesel. :-[

I only ever had Petrol cars and timing belt / cam chains and water pumps often changed at like 60 / 70mls a big service normally cost an arm and a leg

So do Diesel cars not have these ? Enlighten me please  :happydance:

They all have water pumps, and the timing chain will last much longer than any toothed belt will. The timing chain is a duplex one, that is, effectively two chains in parallel, the very much preferred option to timing belts.

Hi Shambles

Just out of interest have you had the discs changed yet ? mine are comming up to 60k and are 'lipped' (front & rear) so will need replacing soon, pads last about 35k but mainly town driving.

Original discs. Original pads. No wear on anything brake-related :)

My motorway driving %age means I don't tend to brake that often, so wear will be minimal anyway :)

Brakes? What brakes?
When I sold mine at 136,000 kms the brakes hadn't been touched.
By a mechanic that is, they were by me, when I braked, if you know what I mean.  :undecided:
