Don't they do the front windows the same as the rears?

This may seem a dumb question - but I have never had a car tinted.Do they have to remove the door cards etc to get the tint to cover all the glass including where it goes into the seals - or does it only cover the visible glass area?

I sometimes see a focus station wagon in our area with what appears to be mirrors in the rear side and back windows. I saw it on a supermarket car park some time back and it is impossible to see into the back of the car. I now recognise it must be some sort of mirror film on the windows.If so - would that not be more effective at cutting out the sun than a coloured tint?
I had the dealership do my tint (darkest legal according to the ming mole) do we need any document to prove that the tint is indeed legal? as i do not have anything as such
