I've heard of horse flies but not horse bees. 
I've avoided a swarm of bees once and it would be pretty scary to be attacked.

When they say killer bees, do they mean European Wasps.

They're nasty bas***ds, sting repeatedly. Councils here have an eradication policy. If the wasps decide they don't like you, they swarm like in Tassie & you're history.

We had moths at the back door overnight at our house. At early morning, these wasps arrived in numbers, attacked the moths, cut their wings off with their mandibles & flew away with the bodies to their nest, it was carnage.

Pretty sure they were just bees the way the article reads.. I heard they killed a dog too

I accidentally split open a European wasp nest at work years ago......
The wasps came after me so I ended up laying on the ground with my terry towelling hat over my face. Luckily I had overalls on so I was fairly well protected.
The rotten sods stung my ears though and I ended up fairly crook.

Did years ago when I used to go trail riding......Back then I wore an open face helmet and I copped one in beside the helmet lining and my face.
It was stuck there buzzing away. You've never seen me pull over so fast...

Me 2, I pulled over real fast and with the full face helmet I knew I'd upset it more trying to take it off. I gently manoeuvred the helmet to allow more space and put my finger in, and got stung on the finger, still, better than the neck.
