Hi from the Gold Coast

Hi All,

I have my i30 SLX CRDi 1.6 Manual Moonlight blue on order I should be picking it up next week (fingers crossed).

I'm a I.T Manager for couple medical centres here on the coast and I can't wait from my new car to arrive.

Is there any other member on the Gold Coast on here?

We have a member on the Sunshine Coast and a couple in Brisbane .. not sure about the Gold Coast sorry

We ordered almost the identical car on 30-12-08 from Brisbane. Got a call today to say it should be ready this Thursday 8-1-09 so a new shipment of these must have arrived in QLD.

These people who waited months for delivery - I don't believe a word of it!!

You just order one and pick it up a week later, no problems.

Actually I've been watching the prices of these since September last year and waiting for just the right moment to buy one when I could get the best possible deal. Will post pics when our new family member arrives.

Hi Treddy, congrats on the new purchase! I just picked mine up 29-December. It was on a ship when I ordered so it (only) took a few weeks to get it.

BigStu, like me you just got in at the right time. December is usually slow and the credit crunch has reduced new car sales by about 10%. But earlier this year there have been some huge delays in Australia on the i30 - some people have waited over 6 months!

The explanation from one Brisbane dealer (not the one I went with) was that China have been buying so many Hyundai's it's been causing delays here. This was around November and his own daughter had been waiting 2 months so obviously if he couldnt pull any strings there just werent any around!

I was lucky as well I got all the papers sign last week on the 2nd Jan 08 and they rang me on Monday that there is a car waiting for me in Brisbane. I will get it maybe Monday I hope.

Well true to their word we collected the car this afternoon. I expected to find something wrong but no it is exactly as ordered : slx crdi, auto, cruise control, esp, rear spoiler, in vivid blue. Only thing not supplied was the door side protectors which are on back order. I went through a car broker so it could have come from anywhere in Brisbane. Turns out the reason we got such a good deal is because there is a brand new Hyundai dealership which opened 2 weeks ago and they're chasing sales. And the icing on the cake is they are so close I can walk there from my house, so if the price is right all the servicing will be done there.

After I get window tinting etc I'll post some pics. Driven it heaps from 3pm today - wow already up to 19klm on the clock!! (had 14klm when we picked it up) And them fancy electric windows things - my mint condition 1983 Commodore doesn't have them.

That's great to know that you are happy with the buy. I went to my dealer yesterday and See what's happening with my i30 but it's on the way I should be driving it by the end of next week.

It's great every1 at work have been asking me to have alook at it no work been done oh well.

I'm heading down to Kingscliff once I finished work tonight to catch up with some friends I'm looking forward to that.

The only thing I don't like about it is that I have reverse parking senses its not lound.

Just got back from a long drive I went all the way down to Bryon Bay.

It's great to drive and I'm really please with it.
