Being quite warm last night I decided to jump on my brother's Suzuki Burgman with the intention of going for a quick ride to basically cool off a bit.

Well, somehow I ended up going into Hobart and then down to Kingston, Margate, Snug and Oyster Cove then across to Cygnet and Huonville and then arrived back in Glenorchy, some 130 k's later.

Being late in the day it was probably a bit of a silly thing to do, with the chances of coming across some of Tassie's wildlife highly likely, especially the "magic" section between Oyster Cove and Cygnet.....
But the road gods must of been looking after me as the only wildlife I saw were the squished remains of pademelons regularly smeared on the bitumen....

I arrived in Cygnet around 8.30pm and briefly thought about giving Jamie (Fatboy) a call to see if he was home but decided it was probably a bit late so I continued on my merry way.

Not having intended going for a long ride I was keeping my eye on the fuel gauge, conscious that many Tasmanian petrol stations aren't open at night but I needn't have worried as there was fuel available in Huonville if I had needed to top up but after seeing how many k's it was back to Hobart I decided I didn't need to refuel after all.

I arrived home somewhere around 9.30pm with a huge grin on my face....ah, life's not so bad after all.... :goodjob:  :happydance:

Good one Rusty.  :goodjob2:
It's nice to clear the cobwebs (and head) out every so often.

Woo!  :happydance: Coffee please!

We looked at moving there a number of years back. Sadly it didn't work out and we decided to stick a bit closer to family (who are all in NSW).

It wouldn't have been too late, Rusty. You're more than welcome to drop in for a cuppa.

BTW, I find that the animals are more active between Cygnet and Huonville, or a couple of them were before they met the Chubby Chariot.

I only call it Gods' country cos Dazz, Aaron and I live here. To quote Bill Murray, "I'm a god, not THE God."

So where are we driving to this time?  :whistler:
Seriously though, I don't like my chances of coming up again this weekend, in fact I'm hoping I'll be allowed to go home soon.... :)

You've got to admire a guy who returns a loaner completely empty of fuel

'Tis ok, Steve...the fuel I used was what I'd put in it last December when I was last over here!  :D
And besides, my brother isn't likely to be riding it any time soon seeing as he has no legs.... :whistler:

BTW, I find that the animals are more active between Cygnet and Huonville, or a couple of them were before they met the Chubby Chariot.

Cheers Jamie.....I'll try to give you some advance notice next time I'm down that way. :goodjob:

Every time I saw a dead pademelon I wondered if it had your name on it....

Gotta watch out for pigs too.  :D

I was on my best behaviour, Dave.....I even obeyed the stupid trial speed limits they have down that neck of the woods....  :whistler:

One early morning while it was still dark (a few years ago) I met a wild boar on my walk and it is an experience I don't want to repeat.
Luckily, there was a flimsy fence between us, but he was huge and they are not very friendly.
Thankfully he took one look at me and ran off the other way.  :sweating: :scared:

That's right.
As I picked up my pencil and started to draw the drawer I had to shoo the cat away from my shoe.

I love an evening ride.
Really clears the head.
Don't need to worry as much about wildlife as you do, although we have our fair share of creatures.
A buddy hit a Moose on his bike. Woke up in the Hospital lucky to be alive. The Moose wasn't so lucky.

Were buried under snow at the moment.
I'm missing riding.

You're right, it certainly does clear the head!  :goodjob:
In fact I felt like a new woman after my ride...

I love riding at night and I even enjoy riding in the rain.....if I have the right gear!
I just wish I could ride more often..... :undecided:

Wow, hitting a moose! Sounds like he was a very lucky boy.....

I grew wings and flew over, Brighton... :D
Got a car and a bike at my disposal here so, as much as I love my i30, it just didn't make economic sense to bring it over.

RN, I may wear the trousers, but I have no control, like the Little Johny joke, when he and little Sally are comparing private parts,Johny says "I have one of these, you don't" and Little Sally says"yeah but mum says all the time I have one of these between my legs,I can always get one of those and control whats on the end of it"
