I have a kml file (map data), that I want to embed into a website. It contains place markers for information. I embedded it to my personal blog for testing, the embedding appears to work, but the place markers don't show e.g. I have an empty map. The place markers show on my personal computer, locally.

I know SFA about this, so does anyone have any advice.  :undecided:

Thanks chaps,

The kml has been generated and created in Google Earth, not Google maps. It displays on my machine, so I put it to Skydrive so I could embed it. After generating the link in Skydrive, I used this for the embedding source. When the embedded was posted in my blog, the earth shows but not the data. I have followed their step by step instructions.  :Dunno:

Thanks for the responses so far  :goodjob2:

Err, if I were a computer, it might help but to me it's 2 x Dutch.

What I was hoping for was someone with the same problem, to provide a quick solution.

Your initial problem definition included 'local' and 'server' so the link and the follow-on link (Localhost Development Options) seemed relevant. These discussions are from others who have met with such problems. :Dunno:

Yes, but they involve code, I gave that up years ago.

Google Earth exist so that people can share their specific information with others. If I wanted an empty map of the Earth I'd use an Atlas. This sort of problem just reinforces my dislike of anything to do with modern technology. Really great ideas, when they work. :foottap:

I can relate to the sentiment, Phil. After decades of coding from Assembler to Java, and everything in between such as COBOL that failed to make me rich during Y2K, now that I've taken up Linux, I've become a notorious 'Just give me something that works' user.

Nice thing about Linux is that it just does.

I take it your "Test" worked Phil.
And saying "Ignore" to us lot is like putting a "wet paint" sign on a freshly painted wall. :happydance:

Does that mean you got it working? I was expecting it might have been to do with relative versus absolute URL tags.

@surferdude, That's why I changed it  :snigger:

@Gonz, No, just making sure an embedded url works, which it seems to, but I need advice from Shambles and no, there is still no data, just Earth.

Years since I worked on the club's .kml file. I remember then how tough it was as Gooble kept changing their APIs.

I'll have a look later as I've been up on my roof dismantling and realigning my gutters. Why does heat expand things then cool weather allow them to contract. It's not fair.

I've never had to mess with gutters for that reason, only to clean them. Is it a common problem

If you lived in Australia, you'd find that everything just keeps on getting bigger because of the heat.
That reminds me, I must pop in and see my tailor again today.
