Good news, but, the government is looking to recoup $51Meg from a cost, it already knew about. They knew quite well that contracts had been entered into, are they asking us to believe that not 1 politician in government has solar panels. Basically, they tried it on, but the public solar segment was having none of it.  :fum:

I'm listening to Colin Barnett on radio as I type actually.
He said he accepts responsibility, got it wrong, made a mistake.
The fact is they didn't get away with it and I fail to see how they thought they would.  :undecided:

OK, it appears it goes a little deeper.
Apparently there was a clause in the contracts that allowed the govt to change the price at any time, so there wasn't a water-tight contract as originally thought.
Also, in reducing the tariff, it was actually to increase the contract for a further two years to compensate for the reduction.
So all was not perhaps as clear cut as initially reported in the media.
However, the state govt has acknowledged it as a mistake so a mistake it was and it has been rectified, as it should have been IMO.

If Labor was in power they would just introduce another tax.
It's a new tax every week from them.

I suspect the Libs will dream one up too, they still want their $51 Meg, one way or another.  :(

State debt is set to blow out to $28b by 2016 in WA which is a lot higher than I think it should be.
They are at least investing in major infrastructure upgrades but I am totally opposed to spending $1b of tax payers' money on a football stadium.
That should be paid for by the AFL, not by us.  :fum:
I am a Liberal supporter as you know, but credit where credit is due, Labor massively reduced debt before Liberal took over which is diametrically opposed to the federal economic situation.

The contracts according to CB had a clause, but funny how a ceratin law firm from the date of the budget to this morning had 103,000 PPL sign up online with expressions of interest in taking out a lass action against the state government, can't tell me this didn't play a roll, but yes glad he did the back flip for what ever reason.
As for the new FB stadium, thats bull hockey this shouldn't be paid by the tax payer,as you said let the AFL and the footy supporters pay for it

I personally think that the solar incentives were a tad generous, but I also think the people (myself included) who entered into a Government sponsored incentive scheme deserve to have them honored.

I think the big game changer in solar will come when battery cost is reduced to the point that you can use solar recharged batteries to   avoid the peek energy times (1600-2000ish) when the solar powered homes come back to grid power (in QLD at least daylight savings changes this elsewhere). This will be achieved with the reduction of the cost of solar (and batteries) and the move to a timed tariff scheme with 'smart' meters. If they can reduce the demand between 1600-2000 and use solar to this end, the energy requirement, and hence the demand for new generators etc will be reduced as will cost of power to the non solar fraternity.
