Very thought provoking and a stellar performance by Will Smith.

Saw it a few years back - really enjoyable. It's on ITV right now, or is that why you mentioned it...?

 :goodjob2:

And yes Lorian, I also wanted him to find a human safe zone and begin re-populating the world in a long battle against the zombies rather than capitulating....

I agree, a great movie.  I thought the ending was fantastic, not a happy ending, life is like that sometimes.

I'm an inveterate lover of sci-fi but I'm afraid "I am Legend" didn't do it for me.

I too was somewhat disappointed if not unimpressed that it was really a redo of The Omega Man.

Most movies are a re-do of some other movie these days though surely! I suppose the oldies might associate more with Mr Heston but I think the plot was very well proposed to the younger generations by Will Smith.

I agree, a great movie.  I thought the ending was fantastic, not a happy ending, life is like that sometimes.

I didn't even realise there were 2 different endings, until I got the DVD and saw the alternate.

The one i saw at the movies, was the not so happy ending. Which i loved and thought fitted very well.

But then on the DVD was the other, which i found to be a bit of a let down, and the happy ending some wanted.

I love this movie though, one of my favourites.

I've seen AN ending.
No idea which it is though. :disapp:
However, a different ending 2wouldn't have made it any better in my opinion.

What was the alternative ending?

Well the ending i Saw at the movies, which I'm going to assume is what most have seen, is they're down in the basement/lab, the zombies are coming in and bashing the glass, he hides the woman and kid in the little cupboard/tunnel? and then as the zombie guy is busting through, Will Smith pulls the pin on the grenade and runs at them.  Very heroic.

The alternate ending is (legit spoiler, no butlers.)

Hmm.
I saw the grenade one.

But...................after that scene it shows the woman and kid arriving at a wall (?) protecting some sort of safe zone.

Thanks, K. I think the ending chosen for the cinemas was the better of the two.
